Saikul area is located in Kangpokpi district of Manipur, India. It is 58kms or 36miles(approximately) from Imphal, which is the capital city of Manipur. Not a place where I was born, but it is a place where I grew up.
Saikul area is mainly inhabited by various Kuki tribes prominently Thadou, Kom, Vaiphei. The town also has some immigrant population like Nepalis, Biharis, Marwaris, who migrated during the British colonial rule in India.
I grew up in a village called Molkon bazar, where two rivers meet and form one river called Iril river. A beautiful place with different groups of people. It is one of the main market in the area.
